Almost all people in the blogosphere knows Wordpress. From kids to designers, pro bloggers, students, writers, poets and many more, they’re all using it! And many are already taking part on switching to it. Wordpress came a long way from it’s roots. Since the release of 1.5 version last 2005, it’s popularity slowly traveled a long way. Up to now, the user community is getting bigger and bigger. Reasons on why people chose Wordpress is already evident especially in Google. Many tend to write the same thing. So let’s tackle the unknown ones.
1. Standard Compliant
Web designers and developers are craving for Web Standards. Having a platform who always follow standard compliance can surely adapt more users. Look at Firefox vs IE? The winner is obvious.
2. WordCamp
WordCamp is a conference type of event that focuses squarely on everything WordPress. Everyone from casual end users all the way up to core developers show up to these events. These events are usually highlighted by speeches or keynotes by various people.

Matt makes a WordCamp complete. I’m really glad that he went here in Philippines just to take part with WordCamp Philippines that was held in Augusto-Rosario Gonzalez Theater, College of Saint Benilde in Manila. He even wen here in Mindanao, Davao City just to have a mini-WordCamp for us Davawenyos. How’s that!?!
3. Documentation
The WP documentation is one of the well written docs I’ve ever seen. And also, the site is well designed. It is easy to read at the same time, easy to navigate.
4. Written in PHP
PHP is offered on all web hosting nowadays. There is no way a web hosting company won’t support PHP. It is dubbed as an easy to deploy language. So it’s surely a good choice.
5. Akismet
87% of all comments are spam – as stated in the Akismet site.
Automattic Kismet (Akismet for short) is a collaborative effort to make comment and trackback spam a non-issue and restore innocence to blogging, so you never have to worry about spam again.
If you’re using Wordpress and haven’t enable Akismet in your Plugins then your wasting a lot of time in deleting those friendly spam comments. That’s Gross.
6. Themes
Web designers can easily build themes in Wordpress but it’s not how WP handles themes. It’s how the community give out free and amazing themes to all. See these themes given freely by Smashing Magazine:
- Agregado: A Free Wordpress Theme
- Infinity: A Free Wordpress Theme
- Wordpress.Fun: A Free Wordpress Theme
- Fervens: A Free Wordpress Theme
- Dilectio: A Free Wordpress Theme
- Smashing: A Free Wordpress Theme
7. Wordpress is the best!
wordpress is the best. wordpress is the best. wordpress is the best.
8. Wordpress is the best!
wordpress is the best. wordpress is the best. wordpress is the best.
9. Wordpress is the best!
wordpress is the best. wordpress is the best. wordpress is the best.
and lastly
10. Coz I’m using it
Ok I know I have the best reasons around the web. And if you have some any unique ones, I would be glad if you’ll post it below.
