The past days I’ve really felt out of place. I neither know what to do next nor to do with the future. When I do certain things, I just do it because of the sense of FEELING of doing it. For example, in school I received Job1 and Job2 which has a deadline for tomorrow at 12nn. So when I get home, I open up Firefox (I only shut my pc sometimes :P), Pidgin, and Songbird. My tasks goes like: check GMail, read emails, check offline messages in YIM, choose the right music-mood, twitter, Plurk, check GReader, read feeds in Digg, etc, and continuously surf the net, during this time I’m at a total lost. Not noticing Job1 and Job2. The only way to remedy this was using desktop Notes but it didn’t affect me at all. So I tried using Remember the Milk.
At first, I was using Google Calendar. But I felt it was too heavy or too bulky to use. Using GCal is like: browse the dates, click, click, duh where-is-that-date, then click this box, then edit details, remind through email, ok, finish. While Remember the Milk (RTM) is just: add task, press d, type a proper date format like “today” “tomorrow” etc, finish.

Remember the Milk is a task manager for i’m-lazy-and-totally-can-do-that-tomorrow minded people. For me, it’s a much simpler and easier to use Google Calendar. Adding task and setting its due is so simple. Many would understand it in their first try.
When I started using RTM, it was a bit of a curve in learning (well, in my case). Coming from the conventions of GCal, I was finding the interface calendar then looking for proper buttons, etc. I thought it was hard to use, but in the end I thought that it was only me going the wrong way. RTM was really easy to use!
My first real time experience with RTM was when my teacher was talking a lot of deadlines on our thesis subject. He talked like “Ok, every friday we do this, and during this date, you need to accomplish this, then planning for this will be during this week”. And I was like rushing then typing things out in my EEE notebook (nuff said about the small keyboard, duh). Lucky at that time that I got RTM in one of my tabs, I quickly jot all the tasks using the keyboard shortcuts available. The site was fast, no delay, no hiccups, just plain simple interface that does everything I need.
It was only last week that I started using RTM. It was great! For now I’ve only used the Gmail Labs Gadget of RTM. I’ll definitely try other services available, especially the firefox extension.
Remember the Milk is totally worth checking out! If your a bit of an alien, you can take a look at Lifehacker’s battle of the iPhone task managers which shows some of the best available online task managers around.
You can also use the shorter URL for Remember the Milk which is www.rmilk.com
And on the other side of news. Packt Publishing sent me the book Blender 3D Architecture, Buildings, and Scenery for review. After two weeks, of course I finished reading it all. You can now read my review in Blender.ph.
